Faster
Speed is an asset in everything surrounding us. We want faster cars, faster computers, a faster mind to go along technology and surely, Faster Music. We make music to accelerate heart beats and raise blood pressure following the lead given by Milan Kundera: “Speed is the form of ecstasy the technical revolution has bestowed on man”. People align their schedules everyday, we rely on our clocks, our mobile phones and society as we know it works with the reliability of Automata. Curiously, or maybe not, Faster Music’s first release is DJ Riot’s “Automan”.
Past and Present
Faster Music is a label that rises from the crates of the oldest portuguese Drum’n'Bass crew: Cooltrain Crew. The Remix compilation “Cooltrain Crew 2000 – 2006 Southeastern Drum’n'Bass Flavas” released in 2007 by CTC/Zounds brought pop portuguese acts to the clubs. Today, DJ Riot, Lil’John and Kalaf, the three masterminds behind Faster Music, members of Cooltrain Crew and sucess tasters with their international project Buraka Som Sistema are spreading their music one step Faster and further. With Buraka Som Sistema they are championed by Diplo, M.I.A, Santogold and Switch; won an MTV EMA for “Best Portuguese Act” and have played major festivals such as Glastonbury, Exit or Festival as well as toured Australia and, during April 09, will tour the United States and Canadá.
Future and Beyond
Our goal is to release Drum’n'Bass, dubstep and grime vinyl records (12″) periodically. Our catalogue will focus on both national and international artists whose music share the Faster vision. The first release, out on March 2009 and debuted exclusively on djdownload.com, will feature 2 seductive rollers by Faster Music’s mentor, DJ Riot, titled “Automan” and “Cyclops”. “Automan” is an homage to 80’s sci-fi imaginarium with a futurist taste. “Cyclops” is an epical, jump-up meets techstep track that will rock minds and dancefloors alike.
Rising Faster…
